Minimum Required Qualification:
  • Grade 12 with Physical Science & Mathematics.
The Appointee should:
  • Medically fit to work in the specific operational area
  • Clear security screening record.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Hold an Intermediate Certificate in Mine Environmental Control.
  • Radiation Protection Officers Certificate issued by the National Nuclear Regulator.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in an Environmental Engineering Department
Advantageous Qualifications:
  • A degree/ Diploma in ventilation, occupational hygiene, or a related field will be advantageous.
  • A certificate in Mine Environmental Control will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Recruitment: • Assist with radiation protection function labor plans around operational targets. Performance Management: • Inspire team members towards high performance.   • Assist with the implementation and maintenance of radiation protection systems which contribute to a safe and productive work environment. • Comply with SHE standards within the work environment. • Participate in risk assessments and investigate and take appropriate action as per identified risks. • Ensure adherence to all company policies and procedures. SHE Management: • Instil a culture of SHE leadership within the department. Quality Management System (QMS): • Comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System
  • Actively support and meaningfully participate in the execution of the segment-specific organizational development plan. This support will manifest in the targeted shift in culture as described by a valid culture assessment.
  • Working Cost Budgets: • Manage budgeting parameters for the radiation protection function in line with business requirements and financial objectives. • Assist in formulating monthly and annual budgets. Cost Savings: • Lead and drive cost-saving and cash conservation initiatives.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders across the organization and externally at all levels and cross-functionally. • Ensuring open communication channels with all relevant stakeholders. • Sourcing, contracting, and negotiating with service providers. • Liaising with the necessary entities on any radiation protection-related requirements. • Collaborating with external service providers regarding the design and implementation of tools to enhance processes.
  • Reporting Legal: • Ensure compliance with legal reporting requirements for radiation protection (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly,, and annually). • Meet time deadlines for reporting (daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly,, and annually) • Annual updating, recording, ng reporting occupational-relate-dated exposure histories. Operational: • Provide information on radiation protection matters related to a specific workplace or section of the business area. • Report and advise on radiation protection exposure trends. • Advises on changes to plans, schedules, procedures, and standards to minimize the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices.
  • Compliance measurements • Scheduling and conducting of monitoring (personal and area) for compliance to conditions of the Certificate of registratioand nan association-approvedveded programs. • Compile safety assessments. • Establish a system to understand and mitigate the risk of radiation exposure. • Statutory plans are in place and up to date (Ventilation plans and mine rescue plans). • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of emergency preparedness programs in compliance with Chapter 16 of the Mine Health and Safety Act. • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of Emergency preparedness programs. • Measure compliance to the conditions of the Certificate of Registration about monitoring and reporting at the Business Area level. • Ensure and assure legal compliance as well as a safe and healthy work environment, to ensure minimized pure risk, litigation exposure, and adverse publicity. • Ensuring adherence to all radiation protection and company policies, procedures, and standards. • Conducting radiation protection projects, surveys, research, and audits. • Advising on radiation protection problems. Page 3 of 7 • Advising on changes to plans, schedules, procedures, and standards to minimize the effect of unexpected or unsafe work practices. • Interpreting and acting on radiation protection-related legislation. • Participate in radiation protection technology studies.
  • Contribute to the achievement of the objectives and targets of the Environmental Engineering Department and those of the business area by • Participating and supporting the development and acceptance of business plans and strategies. • Ensure continuous improvement of the radiation protection programs and systems using integration, optimization n, and maintenance of such systems. Maintain radiation protection strategies and systems by • Assist in the development of best practices standards, ds, and procedures. • Assist in ventilation and occupational hygiene planning, technical systems, and administration. • Provide solutions to specific Ventilation and Occupational Hygiene matters (known or identified via trend analysis). • Set monthly, yearly, ear, ly, and annual internal radiation exposure limits. • Provide radiation protected time, and technical expertise to the operations. • Ensure that the area of responsibility within the specific section can maintain or improve on their current systems in line with the strategic plans and resource constraints. • Conduct reviews to ensure appropriate working conditions at the operations.
  • Ensure that legal requirements, group standards, and policies are adhered to by: Achieving legal compliance • Interpretation of legal requirements. • Ensures adherence to legal compliance through monitoring and reporting. • Measure compliance to the conditions stipulated in the Certificate of Registration, issued by the National Nuclear Regulaat at toatas the Business Area level. • Responsible for ensuring that policies, programs,,, and procedurmaintained byinedbyh legal and Group requirements. • Scheduling and conducting radiation measurements for compliance with COR requirements and Regulations 388. • Compile Safety assessments for compliance with the Certificate of Registration and Regulations 388. • Establish a system to understand and mitigate associated with extraditiondiation
