Minimum Required Qualification:
  • NQF 6 (Degree) in Sustainability, Development Studies, Economics or equivalent
The Appointee should:
  • Have at least 3 years of experience within a corporate sustainability environment.
  • Ability to manage multi-disciplinary social sustainability/impact projects in communities we operate.
  • Have strong analytical, numeracy, and report-writing skills.
  • Be skilled in MS Office suite.
  • Ability to monitor and evaluate project effectiveness
  • Ability to link opportunities for collaboration under all social sustainability/impact programs.
  • Ability to manage multi-stakeholder projects
  • Ability to develop solutions and multi-task.
  • Have office administration skills.
  • Have an understanding of results-based management.
  • Display strong customer relationship management skills.
  • Have mediation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Have the ability to liaise with all levels of society.
  • Have the ability to coordinate and negotiate.
  • Have the ability to articulate and deliver information both technical and general at the community level.
  • Display well-developed knowledge of local community cultures, leaders, customs and practices through prior involvement in the community.
  • Display knowledge of community programs and related communications interventions.
  • Know about community involvement/engagement initiatives and associated structures.

Additional Requirements:
  • Familiarity with the mining industry and fund management experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Providing input into the formulation of a social sustainability/impact projects and implementation plan linking with a broader Sustainability Strategy.
  • Supporting management in the commercialization of social sustainability/impact-funded programs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of social sustainability/impact project monitoring and evaluation framework.
  • Assisting in ensuring that the risk profile of the business in relation to social sustainability/impact is managed effectively and risk aversion strategies are implemented to ensure good relations with stakeholders.
  • Developing and maintaining healthy professional relationships and liaising with key stakeholders to facilitate and guide the effective implementation of social impact practices.
  • Acting as a focal point of contact with the project partners to build effective communication, enhance relationships, and ensure high-quality social sustainability projects to achieve agreed goals.
  • Assisting with the development of a social sustainability/impact program to educate stakeholders about relevant projects and to support active community participation and ownership in the funded projects.
  • Working closely with relevant internal and external stakeholders in training and sensitizing stakeholders for participation in the co-design, implementation, and operation of social sustainability/impact projects.
  • Liaising with stakeholders throughout the project(s) lifecycle and collecting necessary data.
  • Compiling monthly reports in line with required standards and requirements.
  • Adhering to proper record-keeping and document management principles.
  • Maintaining a database of key project and funding partners.
