Key Responsibilities of the Examiner Job
As an Examiner at the Ndwedwe Local Municipality, your primary responsibility will be to ensure that vehicle and driver license applications are properly processed, tested, and approved according to legislation. Below are the key duties associated with the role:
- Testing and Licensing: You will be responsible for coordinating and controlling the application of procedures related to vehicle and driver testing and licensing. This includes verifying application details for driver’s licenses, professional driving permits, and other relevant documents, and applying written or oral tests for learner drivers. Additionally, you will determine driving abilities through visual/oral tests and use K53 applications to assess competency before issuing a license.
- Information Recording and Recordkeeping: You will maintain detailed and accurate records of all applications, reports, tests, and the status of the licensing process. Regularly updating schedules and registers, attending relevant meetings, and performing eNaTIS-related functions to process driver’s license applications and test results will also be essential.
- Converting/Renewing Licenses: Part of your responsibilities will also include converting or renewing licenses by accurately completing necessary documentation, conducting eye tests, taking fingerprints, and checking the validity of existing licenses.
- Reporting: You will be required to maintain records and report daily, monthly, and annual statistics about the number of applicants tested, licenses issued, and any defects or issues identified with the licensing process.
Key Requirements for the Position
To be eligible for this role, the successful candidate must meet the following qualifications and experience:
- Education: A Matric Certificate and a Basic Traffic Officer Diploma or Examiner of Driver License Diploma (Grade D) are required. Additional computer literacy skills, particularly in Office applications and eNaTIS, are also essential.
- Experience: A minimum of two years’ relevant working experience within the public or local government sector is necessary. This experience should be related to driver testing, traffic regulations, or a similar field.
- Skills: The ideal candidate should possess a strong understanding of road and traffic acts and regulations, excellent communication and presentation skills, as well as good knowledge of service delivery principles, ethical conduct, and customer service.
- Driver’s License: A valid EC driver’s license is a must for this role.
