CLARITY-Africa PhD Scholarship 2025

CLARITY-Africa PhD Scholarship 2025. The Climate Change Resilient Equitable Healthy Cities in Africa (CLARITY-Africa) project is an international research initiative coordinated by Imperial College London in collaboration with several prestigious institutions, including the University of Ghana (UG) and the Africa Institute for Mathematical Sciences, Research & Innovation Centre (AIMS RIC).

Other leading universities and partners across Africa also contribute to this effort. The project is designed to generate new and transformative knowledge about the impact of climate change on environmental risk exposures.

A key objective is to identify vulnerable groups and communities at risk from climate-induced hazards such as heat stress, flooding, and drought, particularly in rapidly urbanizing areas.

The research focuses on four African cities: Accra and Tamale in Ghana, and Kigali and Musanze in Rwanda. Vulnerable groups under study may include outdoor workers, schoolchildren, and communities facing increased risks due to urban expansion and climate variability.

As part of its research activities, CLARITY-Africa is recruiting PhD students to join the project and conduct doctoral studies aligned with its mission. Selected candidates will be based at either the University of Ghana or AIMS Research and Innovation Centre (AIMS RIC), where they will engage in rigorous academic training, interdisciplinary research, and experiential learning.
