General Requirements:

Applicants must:

  • Demonstrate competency in the post-specific functions.
  • Hold a Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
  • Be proficient in at least two official languages, one of which must be English.
  • Be a South African citizen.
  • Have no criminal record or pending criminal/departmental cases.
  • Possess computer literacy.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Have analytical, self-management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Be skilled in report writing, presentation, and program development.
  • Hold a valid light motor vehicle driver’s license.
  • Be willing to travel extensively.
  • Complete a vetting process, including security screening and fingerprint verification.
  • Have no visible tattoos while in SAPS uniform.
  • Courses in relevant fields will be advantageous.

Additional Requirements:

  • A three-year degree in Social Work (SAQA accredited, NQF Level 7 or higher).
  • Registration as a Social Worker with the SA Council for Social Service Professions, with proof of valid registration for 2024/2025.
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable legislation and policies.
  • Willingness to work in a multidisciplinary team and promote social work services.
  • Experience in facilitation, presentation, supervision, or management will be an advantage.

Core Functions:

  • Coordinate and facilitate proactive programs for personnel.
  • Provide reactive, therapeutic social work interventions to personnel.
  • Advise management on trends affecting personnel performance.
  • Implement projects that promote a balanced lifestyle for SAPS personnel.
  • Develop and deliver advanced Police Social Work Services assessments.
  • Administer comprehensive occupational social work programs, including capacity-building initiatives and community model applications.
  • Implement multidisciplinary interventions within the Employee Health and Wellness environment.
