POST: Chaplain (Warrant Officer)
LOCATION: Employee Health and Wellness, Provincial Head Office, Parktown, Gauteng
LEVEL OF REMUNERATION: (Band B1) R351 570 per annum

Generic Requirements:
- The applicant must demonstrate competence in the specific duties related to the position.
- Possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12).
- Proficiency in at least two official languages, with English being one of them.
- South African citizenship.
- No criminal record or pending criminal or departmental cases.
- Computer literacy.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Analytical, self-management, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in report writing, presentations, and skill development.
- A valid light driver’s license is required.
- Applicants will undergo a vetting process, including security screening and fingerprint verification.
- Willingness to travel extensively.
- Relevant courses in the field of the post may be advantageous.
- Visible tattoos are not permitted while wearing the SAPS uniform.

Additional Requirements:
- Applicants must hold a 3-year Diploma/Degree in Theology or a related field (SAQA accredited at NQF level 6 or higher) and have at least three years of post-ordination experience as a minister of religion.
- Provide proof of academic records from a recognized institution (SAQA accredited).
- Proof of valid ordination certificate as a preacher (minister of religion), recognized by the current ecclesiastical denomination.
- Submit proof of a valid good standing certificate from the current ecclesiastical denomination.
- Ability to work in diverse teams with strong interpersonal, communication, facilitation, presentation, monitoring and evaluation, report writing, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and computer skills (MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook).
Core Functions:
- Develop and deliver professional spiritual services and interventions for SAPS employees.
- Provide support (general and pastoral care) programs, interventions, and projects addressing the spiritual needs of SAPS employees.
- Address the spiritual needs of SAPS employees and their families through proactive and reactive spiritual services.
- Implement multi-disciplinary approach interventions within the Employee Health and Wellness environment.
- Develop and maintain protocols and policies in alignment with the Section Spiritual Services and Employee Health and Wellness policies.
General Information:

- Candidates must disclose if they are respondents in an interim or final protection order in terms of the Domestic Violence Act, 1998 (Act No 116 of 1998) or the Protection from Harassment Act, 2011 (Act No 17 of 2011), as it may lead to disqualification.
- The Criminal Law (Forensic Procedures) Amendment Act, Act 37 of 2013, mandates that all new appointments within the SAPS from 31 January 2015 must provide a buccal (cheek) sample for forensic DNA profiling, which will be stored in the National Forensic DNA Database.
- Applicants appointed under the Police Service Act will undergo a medical assessment as per SAPS requirements.
- Newly appointed employees will be required to complete a lateral entry program at a SAPS Academy and Training Centre and maintain firearm competency as per SAPS standards.

- Persons with previous convictions are excluded from consideration.
