Minimum Requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent
  • Admission as an Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in claims or litigation

Key Responsibilities

As a Claims Officer, you will be expected to manage and resolve litigated claims effectively, support RAF Attorneys, and ensure fair compensation to accident victims.

Your Duties Will Include:

  • Conducting preliminary assessments of litigated files
  • Investigating and settling claims fairly and efficiently
  • Evaluating merits and quantum of each case
  • Assessing:
    • General damages (under both old and new RAF Act)
    • Loss of earnings/support
    • Funeral and medical expenses
  • Performing court order loading, writs, and bridge assessments
  • Engaging in settlement negotiations to avoid trial when appropriate
  • Liaising with RAF Attorneys to prepare for trial
  • Diarizing, following up, and reporting on trial outcomes
  • Verifying supporting data and documentation
