Minimum Requirements

To be eligible for appointment, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A basic R425 qualification: Diploma or degree in nursing or equivalent.
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
  • At least 7 years of post-registration nursing experience (in General Nursing).

Knowledge and Competencies Required

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation: Nursing Act, Health Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Labour Relations Act, Skills Development Act, Public Service Regulations, Batho Pele Principles, and more.

Key Responsibilities

As a Clinical Programme Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in strengthening the quality and efficiency of nursing services. Your main duties include:

1. Strategic Planning & Policy Implementation

  • Develop and align operational plans with departmental goals.
  • Implement health legislation, policies, and standards.

2. Quality Nursing Services

  • Promote nursing professionalism and ethics.
  • Monitor adherence to patient care standards and Batho Pele principles.
  • Investigate and respond to patient complaints involving nursing staff.

3. Human Resource Management

  • Assess staffing needs and oversee recruitment and retention of nursing personnel.
  • Supervise and support nursing education and professional development.
  • Manage PMDS implementation, staff discipline, leave, and duty rosters.

4. Financial & Physical Resources Management

  • Prepare and monitor budget aligned with health objectives.
  • Ensure optimal utilisation of physical and material resources.
  • Monitor and report on service level agreements and expenditure.

5. Programme Oversight

  • Provide technical guidance in implementing health programmes.
  • Audit and analyse clinical records to improve patient care.
  • Coordinate quality assurance and health improvement initiatives.

6. Information Management

  • Maintain accurate documentation and electronic systems.
  • Use programme data to evaluate performance and identify gaps.

7. Teamwork & Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across departments and NGOs.
  • Promote multidisciplinary teamwork for improved healthcare delivery.
