POST 23/142: Manager Nursing (PN-A9): Child Health (DCST)

Requirements:
- Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
- Diploma/Degree in Nursing (SANC R425 compliant)
- Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse (2025)
- Tertiary qualification in Health Sciences (preferably Public Health)
- 10 years of nursing experience after registration
- 5 years must be in Child Health Services management
- Post-basic qualifications in Child Health, Nursing Education, or Administration are an advantage

Duties:
- Support the District Clinical Specialist Team in improving mother and child health
- Ensure equitable access to maternal and child health care
- Support outreach, policy development, and standard treatment guidelines
- Mentor and train healthcare professionals
- Develop systems for surveillance, referrals, health information
- Conduct risk management (e.g., morbidity and mortality reviews)
- Monitor programme implementation (e.g., IMCI, ETAT, PMTCT)
- Promote teamwork within the specialist team
- Develop clinical audit tools aligned with OHSC standards

Duties:
- Coordinate implementation of MCWYH programmes
- Facilitate maternal and child health & integrated nutrition programmes
- Monitor compliance with national/provincial policies
- Support safe and quality services for women, youth, and children
- Advise and support district health teams
- Monitor poverty alleviation projects linked to MCWYH
- Evaluate programme impact and submit reports

Duties:
- Provide administrative support to the Mental Health Review Board (MHRB)
- Process mental health documentation and maintain user files
- Maintain registers for:
- Periodic and overdue reports
- ECT, seclusion, and mechanical restraint reports
- Mental health court forms
- Record emergency admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Assist in resource management and data reporting
- Work effectively in a multidisciplinary team
